The why and how of effective altruism …

if you’re lucky enough to live without want, it’s a natural impulse to be altruistic to others. But, asks philosopher Peter Singer, what’s the most effective way to give?

This great TED video poses how to balance emotions with practicality to make the biggest impact. Sometimes though, the biggest impact isn’t in quantity. Sometimes its in value. A big impact that’s special, unique, grand and even bespoke, can be as brilliant as a simple solution to save hundreds of lives. And when we start overly comparing such impact, we run the risk of undermining valid causes and donors needs. Each to their own I say….but very interesting and worth a look…
